No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount given by the insurer when you don't make any claims during a policy year. It ranges from 20% (after 1 claim-free year) to 50% (after 5+ claim-free years) on the Own Damage premium. NCB is earned by the policyholder, not the vehicle so you can transfer it when buying a new vehicle.
IDV (Insured Declared Value) is the current market value of your vehicle after depreciation. It is the maximum amount you can claim in case of total loss or theft. IDV is calculated based on the manufacturer's listed selling price minus depreciation as per IRDAI guidelines. For a 1-year-old car, depreciation is 15%; for 2 years, 20%; for 3 years, 30%, and so on.
